What Is A Pergola?

Create A Comfortable Atmosphere For Entertaining & Relaxing

Pergolas are an excellent addition to any outdoor space. They provide shade and protection from the elements, creating a comfortable atmosphere for entertaining or relaxing. Pergolas also add value to your home by increasing its curb appeal and providing a unique look that will set it apart from other homes in the neighborhood.

Great company!! Very cordial and professional. Project was quoted out, dates were given and everything was followed up with. Any modifications that we had made, they were more than happy to accommodate all of our needs and left everything clean once they were done. Best of all, they had the lowest price of all of our quotes.

Our Recent Pergola Projects

Valrose has provided custom pergolas and shade products in South Florida for over four decades. We are a family-owned and operated team that prioritizes quality and customer service. Here are a few of our most recent  projects.

Types of Pergolas We Build

While most pergolas share the same slatted roof design, they can come in many different materials, sizes, colors, and styles all depending on your wants and needs. We typically build our pergolas from aluminum or vinyl, but can use alternative materials when necessary. In addition to custom built pergolas, there are typically three main types of pergolas: freestanding, attached, and retractable.

Freestanding Pergolas

Freestanding pergolas are self-supporting structures that don’t require any additional support from walls or other structures. This type of pergola is ideal for those who want to create an open airy feel in their backyard or patio area without blocking off the view with a walled structure. Freestanding pergolas also offer more flexibility when it comes to placement since they can be moved around easily if needed.

Attached Pergolas

Attached pergolas are connected directly to the side of a building, such as a house or a garage wall. These types of pergolas provide extra shade and protection from rain while still allowing natural light into the area below them. They’re also great for creating privacy screens between two buildings or sections of a yard without blocking out too much sunlight.

Retractable Pergolas

Retractable pergolas feature adjustable fabric covers that can be opened up during sunny days and closed down during rainy weather for added protection against inclement conditions like wind and rainstorms. These types of structures allow you to enjoy your outdoor living space no matter what kind of weather is happening outside.

The Benefits of Pergolas

The most obvious benefit of having a pergola is the shade they provide. On hot summer days, you can relax under your pergola without worrying about sunburns or heat exhaustion. The slats on top of the structure create partial shade while still allowing some sunlight through, making it perfect for enjoying sunny days outdoors without getting too hot. They also make a great rain cover if you have a retractable pergola.

Your Design Options for Pergolas

From roof styles and colors to shapes and sizes, you can customize your pergola in many ways. Pergolas come in two main roof styles – open or latticed. Open roofs provide more sun exposure while latticed roofs offer more shade coverage. You can also choose from solid panels or louvered designs that allow air flow through the structure.
